Turmeric Milk (Golden Milk)
A warming, anti-inflammatory milk drink with turmeric, ginger, and spices.
Collect all ingredients mindfully. Measure out the milk, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, honey, and ghee. If using fresh ginger, grate it finely. If using cardamom, lightly crush the pods to release their aromatic oils.

Pour 1 cup of milk into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Avoid boiling the milk as high heat damages its nutritional properties. The milk should be warm and steaming but not bubbling vigorously.

Once the milk is warm, add 0.5 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 0.25 teaspoon of ginger powder, 0.125 teaspoon of black pepper, and 0.25 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes, ensuring the spices are fully dissolved and distributed throughout the milk.

Add 0.5 teaspoon of ghee to the warm milk and spice mixture. Stir well to incorporate. Add a pinch of sea salt, which enhances flavor and aids digestion. If using cardamom pods, add them now and let them infuse for 30 seconds.

Reduce heat to low and let the milk simmer gently for 2-3 minutes. This allows the spices to fully infuse their warming and medicinal properties into the milk. The aroma will become increasingly fragrant and inviting.

If using whole cardamom pods or fresh ginger pieces, strain the milk into a cup using a fine-mesh strainer. This removes any solid particles while retaining all the beneficial compounds.

Pour the golden milk into a cup and let it cool for 1-2 minutes until it is still warm but not too hot. Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey and stir gently. Raw honey should never be heated above 40°C as heat destroys its enzymes and medicinal properties.
